내 작업은 물리적 구조물로서의 '집'을 넘어, 그 집 안에 잠재된 정서적 풍경을 탐구하는 과정이다. 어린 시절 내가 살던 집은 안식과 불안, 따뜻함과 공포가 공존하는 이중적인 장소였다. 보통 집은 쉼과 안전을 제공하는 공간으로 여겨지지만, 만약 그 안에 불안과 공포가 함께 존재한다면 그것은 온전한 안식처가 될 수 없다. 어릴 적의 기억들은 성인이 된 지금의 나에게도 깊은 영향을 미치고 있으며, 그 기억의 파편은 내면의 날카로운 가시가 되어 계속해서 작용하고 있다. My work explores not only the house as a physical structure but also the emotional landscapes embedded within it. The house of my childhood was a dual space where comfort and fear, stability and anxiety coexisted. While a house is commonly considered a place of rest and safety, any presence of fear or unease undermines its role as a true sanctuary. The fragmented memories from my early years continue to influence my adult life and remain like sharp thorns embedded in my inner self. 나는 두터운 물감을 캔버스 위에 쌓아 집의 형상을 구축한다. 그렇게 형성된 집들은 다소 의도치 않게, 마치 감정이 응축된 듯 날카로운 형태로 굳어진다. 그 덩어리들을 가위로 잘라내고 조각도로 도려내는 과정은 내면 깊은 곳의 감정을 직면하고 정리해나가는 의식적인 행위이기도 하다. 때로는 캔버스 천까지 찢어내면서까지 그 덩어리를 제거하려는 이 행위는, 스스로의 불안정한 감정과 기억들을 해체하고 다시 쌓아올리는 과정을 시각화한다. I build up thick layers of paint on the canvas to form the shape of a house. These forms, often unintentionally, solidify into sharp and pointed structures—as if embodying concentrated emotions. Cutting them with scissors and carving them out with knives becomes a conscious act of confronting and organizing my inner turmoil. At times, I even tear through the canvas itself. This destructive yet reconstructive process visually expresses the dismantling and rebuilding of unstable emotions and lingering memories. ‘입체적 집’은 기억과 감정의 무게를 담고 있으며, 그것은 단순한 물리적 공간이 아니라 내면의 풍경으로 존재한다. 나는 작업을 통해 과거의 고통과 대면하고, 어린 시절의 기억을 반추하며, 정신적으로 완성된 ‘집’을 찾아가는 여정을 계속하고 있다. 날카롭게 굳어 있는 형상들은 내면의 상처이며, 나는 그것들을 해체하고 재구성함으로써 ‘참된 안식’의 가능성을 그려본다. 궁극적으로 이 작업은 물질적 공간을 넘어서, 정서적이고 심리적인 의미에서의 ‘집’을 지어 나가는 과정이다. Three-Dimensional House carries the weight of memory and emotion, existing not merely as a physical space but as an internal landscape. Through my work, I confront past pains, reflect on childhood memories, and pursue the construction of a mentally and emotionally complete house. The sharply hardened forms represent emotional wounds, and by deconstructing and reassembling them, I search for the possibility of true rest. Ultimately, this practice builds not a material dwelling, but a symbolic, emotional, and psychological home.
