박성림은 자연을 바라보며 마음속에 일어나는 미묘한 감정을 섬유의 물성으로 번역한다. 그녀에게 섬유는 단순한 조형 재료가 아니라, 감각을 머금고 반응하며 손끝에서 다른 형태로 거듭나는 살아 있는 존재와도 같다. 가벼운 질량감과 부드러운 연속성, 그리고 변화 가능성을 품은 섬유는 그녀의 사유를 평면에서 입체, 그리고 공간으로 자연스럽게 확장시킨다. 그녀의 작품은 반복되는 매듭에서 시작된다. 매듭은 섬유의 가장 원초적인 결합이자, 형태를 연장하고 확장시키는 언어이며, 결국 삼차원 구조를 세우는 핵심적인 기술이다. 견고하게 묶인 매듭은 하나의 점이 되고, 점과 점을 잇는 실들은 선이 되어 공간 속에서 서로를 부드럽게 잡아당긴다. 이 점과 선이 켜켜이 쌓여 이루는 공간적 매트릭스는 논리보다 감성, 개념보다 내면의 움직임에 더 가까운 세계를 열어준다. 박성림의 섬유는 얽히고 풀리기를 반복하며 작가의 감정과 호흡을 품는다. 손끝으로 지속해 온 노동의 시간, 몰입의 흔적, 감각의 층위는 매듭마다 조용히 새겨지고, 그 축적은 그녀만의 조형 언어가 된다. 점과 선, 질감과 긴장, 정적인 형태와 유동적인 감성이 한데 얽히며 섬유는 새로운 공간을 스스로 만들어 나간다. 관객은 그녀의 작품 앞에서 매듭에 응축된 시간과 손길, 그리고 섬유가 건네는 섬세한 감정의 결을 마주하게 된다. 그 결 사이를 따라가다 보면, 작가의 내면이 움직이던 자리와 닿는 순간이 조용히 찾아온다. Park Sungrim translates the subtle emotions awakened by observing nature into the tactile language of fiber. For her, fiber is not merely a material but a living entity—sensitive, responsive, transformable, and capable of continuous extension through the touch of her hands. Its lightness, flexibility, and inherent potential for expansion allow her practice to flow seamlessly from the plane to the sculptural and into the spatial. At the center of her work lies the repeated act of knotting. A knot is the most primal method of binding, a gesture that lengthens and expands fiber, and an essential language for constructing three-dimensional form. Each firmly tied knot becomes a point; the threads extending from it become lines that gently pull and hold one another within space. As these points and lines accumulate, they form a spatial matrix—one that departs from logic and approaches a world shaped by intuition, emotion, and inner resonance. In Park’s hands, fiber twists, interlaces, and gathers traces of her breath and emotion. The time embedded in repetitive labor, the quiet intensity of immersion, and the subtle layers of sensation manifest knot by knot, eventually shaping her unique sculptural vocabulary. Points and lines, tension and softness, stillness and flow converge as fiber generates its own spatial presence. Standing before her works, viewers encounter the time, gesture, and emotional grain held within each knot. Following these delicate threads, one may sense the quiet space where the artist’s inner movements once unfolded.
